Cosmetology:

Suggested Skills for Success

  • Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA
  • Must pass English, Math & Science in the junior year (or before the start of the Year 2 classes at CVCC)
  • Science-intensive program
  • History of regular on-time attendance is strongly suggested – must be in class on time each day to be eligible to earn the needed hours per State Board of Cosmetology requirements. Fewer than 10 days absent per year is suggested.

Dental Assisting:

Suggested Skills for Success

  • Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA
  • First year: college-level Anatomy/Physiology course required (passage required for year two)
  • Science-intensive program

Education Professions:

Suggested Skills for Success

  • Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and a 3.0 GPA in English/Composition required.
  • Able to provide own transportation and have driver’s license for second year of program

Fire & EMS Academy:

Suggested Skills for Success

  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • First year: Foundations firefighting/EMS, Homeland Security & Anatomy/Physiology (passage in all courses required for returning year 2)
  • Second Year: College level course EMT 1st semester pre-requisite for 2nd semester Fire 2 CCP at Stark State University. (2nd semester mandatory attendance and weekend requirements)
  • 17 years old by January 15 senior year
  • ACT 18 or 246 Accuplacer
  • NIMS 100 & 700 passed
  • FBI/BCI background check
  • Driver’s license
  • Physical

Health Careers:

Suggested Skills for Success

  • Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA
  • Must pass all health career and Anatomy/physiology courses to return for year two (science intensive)
  • STNA mandatory attendance policy 1st semester senior year and requirements to sit for STNA certificate test:
  • 7 tests must pass with 80% average
  • Skill test 80% average
  • Final exam with CVCC 75% average

Sports Medicine Exercise Science:

Suggested Skills for Success

  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA & earn a “C” or better in Biology for admission
  • First year: college-level Anatomy/Physiology course required (passage required for year two)
  • Science-intensive program
  • Second year requires passage of all first-year courses

Cuyahoga Valley Career Center treats the following signature like a signature on a paper form.

I verify the above information to be correct, and I understand that completion of this form does not guarantee placement in a school. I further understand that I cannot register my child without appropriate address documentation and that only one application can be submitted per child.

I understand that a child admitted under false information is illegally enrolled and could be disenrolled upon discovery. I further understand that it is my responsibility as the Parent/Legal Guardian to immediately inform Cuyahoga Valley Career Center of any changes to the information provided.

I give permission for my child to enroll in a program at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center and for associate school personnel to release school records and information to CVCC.

I give permission for my child to attend the CVCC 10th Grade Field Trip in either November or December, 10th Grade Visit in February and the CVCC New Student Orientation in April. (The application will not be able to be submitted and processed unless parent permission is given for students to attend these mandatory CVCC school events.)
