Conditions of Approved Transfers:
This request is made with the full understanding of, and agreement to, the following:

• Inter-district transfers are for a period of one year.
• You must re-apply for your transfer each year during the annual transfer window.
• Transportation shall not be provided by the District.
• Student/guardian must obey all school rules and regulations as listed in the HEB ISD Student Code of Conduct.
• Student must attend school regularly and arrive and depart on time every day.
• Student must maintain acceptable academic performance.
• A parent/guardian is limited to submit one transfer request per school year.
• Student must satisfy all University Interscholastic League Rules and Regulations to be eligible in any and all UIL related activities.

Reasons for Denied/Revoked Transfers:
Reasons as stated in Board Policy FDB (LOCAL):

1. A student’s failure to abide by all communicated laws, policies, rules, and the Student Code of Conduct, or to exhibit poor attendance or poor academic performance.
2. Any falsification of information. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) may be punished under the TEXAS PENAL CODE, CHAP. 37 Sec. 37.10.
3. Class size exceeds district and/or state guidelines, facilities become overcrowded, or for reasons deemed to be in the best interest of the District or campus.
4. Exiting the “Schools of Choice” program for any reason (participant and any siblings affected).

4. Student must attend school regularly and arrive and depart on time every day.
5. Student must maintain acceptable academic performance.
6. A parent/guardian is limited to submit one transfer request per school year.

As a condition of acceptance into the program, I agree to the following understandings:

• My student will receive 45 minutes of instruction about the history, traditions, art and music associated with Arabic, and Mandarin languages during art and music periods in Grades 1-3.
• My student will have the opportunity beginning in Grade 4 to choose one of the languages to focus on through Grade 6. The language classes will include art and music in Grade 4. The language classes are chosen in lieu of art and music classes in grades 5 and 6. Art and music is incorporated appropriately through the language acquisition classes.
• This is not an immersion program.
• If there are more applicants than seats, a lottery will determine student placement on the waiting list.

If my student is not currently zoned for the Schools of Choice campus, I agree to the following:

• I must be willing to accept a transfer for my student and provide transportation to and from the Schools of Choice campus.
• I understand that exiting a Schools of Choice program for any reason may initiate administrative procedures to return my student back to the school of residence along with any affected siblings.

• In an attempt to keep families together, siblings of students accepted into the program may also receive priority consideration for a general transfer to the Schools of Choice campus. An online transfer application must be completed for each sibling during the transfer window.

As a condition of acceptance into the program, I agree to the following understandings:

• This program is primarily for students whose first language is English.
• My student will be in a classroom where only the Spanish language will be used to teach the core subject matter areas such as reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies.
• There may be up to 26 students in the first grade Spanish Immersion class, with a teacher assistant if more than 22 students.
• There could be a temporary lag in acquisition of English reading and writing skills.
• I agree to make a long-term commitment to the program.
• I agree to read with my student in English every night to establish the foundation for English reading and writing skills.
• If there are more applicants than seats, a lottery will determine student placement on the waiting list.

If my student is not currently zoned for the Schools of Choice campus, I agree to the following:

• I am willing to accept a transfer for my student and provide transportation to and from the Schools of Choice campus.
• I understand that exiting a Schools of Choice program for any reason may initiate administrative procedures to return my student back to the school of residence along with any affected siblings.

• In an attempt to keep families together, siblings of students accepted into the program may also receive priority consideration for a general transfer to the Schools of Choice campus. An online transfer application must be completed for each sibling during the transfer window.

As a condition of acceptance into the program, I agree to the following understandings:

• This is a long-term commitment that will require after school involvement and practice at home. This commitment also includes student involvement in all applicable performances.
• I am expected to provide a violin, viola or cello and that there will be other costs associated with the program such as books, tapes and CD’s.
• I (or someone who stands in a parental relationship, such as a grandparent) must accompany my student to a private lesson once a week during the school day.
• Parents are responsible for transportation home from school if the scheduled after school Suzuki instruction is not compatible with the regular bus schedule.
• I may be contacted and interviewed as to the extent of commitment to the Strings program; that current teachers may be asked for a recommendation; and other screening procedures may be utilized to determine probable success in the program.
• If there are more applicants than seats, a lottery will determine student placement on the waiting list.
